Duathlon - MTB and skyrunning
Canazei / Passo Fedaia / Marmolada Punta Rocca (3.250m)

The duathlon covers a total distance of 16 km with 1,800m vertical climb. MTB for 12 km with 600m vertical climb from Canazei (1,450m) to the Fedaia Pass (2,054m). The skyrunning section is 4 km with 1,200m vertical climb to the Punta Rocca via Pian dei Fiacconi and the Capanna al Ghiacciao hut. As a matter of interest, the record from Canazei to the Marmolada summit with MTB and skimountaineering kit, was established in June, 2002, in the Alpine SkyRaid® by the Italian/French team (Pellisier/Brunod/Brosse) in 1h48’.

Equipment
Compulsory equipment: First section from Canazei to the Fedaia Pass: mountain bike, helmet and gloves – MTB shoes with cleat or trail running shoes and toe clips. Second section: Fedaia Pass to Punta Rocca: tights or bike shorts, trail running shoes, socks, windproof jacket, gloves, bandana or hat, ski poles.

Course
The course follows the right side of the valley (Pian Trevisan), marked with flags at forks. From the Fedaia Pass, the ascent is in the direction of the Capanna al Ghiacciaio hut (2,700m) where the snowfield below the Puna Rocca (3,250m) begins. In case of snow, or if normal train running shoes cannot be safely worn on the glacier, the race will finish at the Capanna al Ghiacciaio hut, Pian dei Fiacconi (2,700m). In either case, the descent is with the cable car to the Fedaia Pass or the Malga Ciapela and to Canazei by bus.

Change area
At the Fedaia Pass: Cima Undici hut. All competitors must deliver their numbered kit to the organizers in Canazei who transport it to the change area at the Cima Undici hut.
